About the MoPED project

Aim of the project:

modernization of curricula of pedagogical Universities of Ukraine by using contemporary practices and teaching methods with the involvement of ICT and the most modern methods of research results.

Project goals:

– development of modern teaching materials on methods of teaching STEAM subjects;

– development and accreditation of 18 semester disciplines included in the curricula of the Ukrainian Universities, and their accreditation at the institutional level, which will ensure the modernization of curricula of educational levels “Bachelor” and “Master” of each university of Ukraine;

– providing a series of trainings for 450 teachers of Ukrainian Universities – project partners;

– establishing effective cooperation between European and Ukrainian Universities, school teachers and their associations to strengthen internationalization, knowledge transfer and academic potential;

– creation of an “Innovative Classroom” in each Ukrainian University – project partner, which will be considered as an educational space of the 21 century, built on the basis of best European practices

In October 2017, Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi Hryhorii Skovoroda State Pedagogical University started work within the framework of the European Union project Erasmus + KA2 №586098-EPP-1-2017-1-UA-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP “ Modernazation of pedagogical higher education by innovative teaching instruments (MoPED).

MoPED is the first project in which a consortium of Ukrainian universities led by Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine) is the applicant and grantholder. Its goal is to modernize the curricula of Ukrainian institutions of higher education of pedagogical profile through the introduction of modern teaching methods using ICT and methods of evaluating results.

In the process of project implementation it is planned to solve the following tasks:

– to develop new disciplines with the use of technology STEAM-education (science, technology, engineering, arts, math), as well as update the content of those subjects that are already taught;

– to conduct trainings for teachers of pedagogical universities of Ukraine, which are partners of the project, in order to disseminate the gained professional experience;

– to create in each Ukrainian pedagogical institution of higher education “Innovative Classroom” (ICR) – a kind of educational space of the 21st century, built on the basis of best European practices;

– to ensure cooperation between European and Ukrainian pedagogical universities, school teachers and associations to enhance internationalization, knowledge transfer and academic exchange.

Within the framework of the project, the university envisages the analysis of curricula for the training of future specialists in pedagogical specialties, the needs and requirements of schools; development of new disciplines; conducting trainings for teachers; teaching a professional English course for teachers, etc. The MoPED project aims to modernize curricula in Ukraine through organized cooperation and exchange of experience with practitioners from European and Ukrainian higher education institutions. Teachers and students who took part in the project will be registered in the eTwinning and School Education Gateway communities to share their teaching materials, ideas, achievements, etc. Such links support multicultural cooperation between teachers and, consequently, influence education in both Ukraine and the EU.
